New vehicle sales in Qatar surge 35.5% year-on-year in 2022 to 56,688 units. Toyota (+58.7%) grows even faster to lift its share from 31.6% to 37.1%. It is followed like in 2021 by a shy Nissan (+0.1%) and Kia (+25.6%). Suzuki (+119.6%) more than doubles its year-ago volume to sign the largest gain in the Top 10 and climbs from #10 to #4. Mitsubishi (-2.2%) and Hyundai (+35.1%) are knocked down to #5 and #6 respectively. Lexus (+74.1%) and Land Rover (+37.4%) also beat the market at #9 and #8 while MG (+29.8%) can’t quite get there and Chevrolet (-10.8%) sinks four ranks to #10. Below, Geely (+124.7%), Changan (+73.1%) and Isuzu (+47.5%) stand out.
Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+103%) surges ahead to improve its market share from 11.2% to 16.7%. The podium entirely beats the market with the Toyota Hilux up 55.8% and the Nissan Sunny up 55.6%. The Nissan Patrol (-14.9%) drops one spot to #4 while the Lexus LX (+127.7%) is up 10 to #5. The Toyota Camry (+55.1%) is also in great shape at #5 and the Range Rover (+921.7%) and Suzuki Swift Dzire (+346.7%) lodge surreal gains to round out the Top 10.
