Toyota Prado best-seller, gross sales hit -17.3% – Finest Promoting Automobiles Weblog

The Toyota Prado is the most popular vehicle in Iceland in January.

It’s a weak start of the year for new car sales in Iceland, down -17.3% on January 2022 to 731 units. Toyota (+28.2%) defies the surrounding gloom to return to the top spot it held over the Full Year 2022 with 19.3% share vs. 16.5% in 2022. Kia (+28%) also ignores the negative trend to stay in 2nd place with 16.3% of the market vs. 10.6% in 2022. Hyundai (-28.6%) falls hard with Volvo (-11.8%) limiting its drop somewhat. Great performers in the Top 10 are Dacia (+170%), Renault (+154.5%), Volkswagen (+125%) and Mazda (+42.1%).

The Toyota Prado is the best-selling vehicle in the country this month with a dominant 4.6% share, towering over the Kia Ceed at 3.1%. These two nameplates are the only ones above 2.2% share for the month, showing a very fragmented market despite its small size. The Hyundai Tucson closes the podium above the Dacia Duster and Kia Sorento up from #39 over the Full Year 2022 to #6 in January. Notice also the Kia Picanto up to #9 and the Land Rover Defender at #10.
