Audi could be sending off its high-performance RS6 wagon with a hot farewell edition developed by the Audi Sport team.
This spied RS6 prototype wears the Audi Sport stripes on its rear doors.
It also features a unique front bumper with a lower lip, plus new fender vents and a larger rear spoiler.
The rear bumper also appears to have received some changes, with a restyled rear diffuser. Large oval exhaust outlets remain.
The more aggressive look could be backed up by more power, with the hotter RS6 potentially packing 485kW of power from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine.
Other changes could include upgraded suspension and brakes.
The boosted V8 in the current RS6 Performance, recently introduced to Australia, produces 463kW and 850Nm.
That was already a step up from the standard RS6 Avant previously offered here, which produces 441kW and 800Nm, with 0.2 seconds shaved off the 0-100km/h claim for a sprint time of 3.4 seconds.
This was achieved through Audi increasing boost pressure. The company also quickened shift times, made the self-locking centre differential lighter and more compact, and stripped out 8kg of sound insulation.
Early test mules of the next-generation A6 and S6 have been spied, and an RS6 could continue – though these vehicles will be renamed A7, S7 and RS7.
That will likely mean the current A6 and A7 lines will be merged, as Audi is set to do with the current A4 and A5.
The RS6 nameplate could continue, but on a high-performance version of the electric Audi A6 e-tron. The company has previously said it “can imagine” a hot RS6 version, which could match or exceed the current RS e-tron GT’s outputs of 440kW and 830Nm.
The A6 e-tron will be offered as both a five-door liftback and as a wagon.
