U.S. Carriers Proceed Suspension of Tel Aviv Flights

As tensions rise in the Middle East, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have continued their suspensions of flights to Tel Aviv, Israel, the carriers confirmed Monday. They initially paused flights last week into this week after the U.S. State Department issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Lebanon.

Delta flights between New York and Tel Aviv are suspended through Aug. 31, according to a statement on its website. Seats on Delta partner airlines Air France and El Al Airlines remain bookable on the Delta website when available, according to the carrier.

Delta also on Monday afternoon extended its waiver for customers affected by the canceled Tel Aviv flights. The waiver applies to tickets purchased on or before Aug. 5, and for travel affected through Sept. 6. New tickets must be reissued on or before Sept. 10, and new travel must originate on or before Oct. 31, according to the waiver. If rebooked travel occurs after Oct. 31, 2024, a difference in fare may apply, according to the carrier.

United Airlines in a statement Monday afternoon said it will “continue to monitor the situation and will focus on the safety of our customers and crews as we decide when to resume service.” It did not provide an updated suspension date.

American Airlines had not yet resumed flights after pausing them, along with other airlines, following the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel.

Several European airlines have suspended flights, according to BTN portfolio mate Business Travel News Europe.
