Ride-hailing provider Uber will launch a new feature enabling group trips, the company announced at a media event Wednesday.
The service, dubbed Group Rides, will be available “soon” in more than 25 cities “throughout the world,” including Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Diego, Washington, D.C., and Toronto, “with more to come,” according to a company spokesperson.
Users will be able to invite others to add their addresses in the Uber app on a group trip. The Uber app will automatically update stops to pick up each person according to the most efficient route, and each rider will be charged for the time they spent on the trip.
