Former American Airlines corporate sales executive Noel
O’Connell has joined United Airlines as managing director of its central and
Canadian division, the company announced Monday. O’Connell, who began work
today, reports directly to SVP of worldwide sales Doreen Burse.
O’Connell’s responsibilities include “setting and
leading our Central and Canadian field sales strategy,” according to an
email from Burse to United staffers, shared by the carrier with BTN. “In
addition, he will assume strategic leadership for our Inside Sales North and
Business Development Divisions,” Burse wrote.
O’Connell spent more than 15 years with American Airlines, most
recently as managing director of sales operations and development. He previously
served as managing director of sales strategy and led business-to-business
engagement, salesforce effectiveness and sales support teams, and before that
as director of corporate programs and strategy.
O’Connell departed American in November, according to his
LinkedIn profile.
He “has extensive experience in the implementation of
sales strategies, transforming products & services, negotiating complex
agreements, & empowering his team to deliver exceptional customer service
support,” Burse wrote, adding that O’Connell “in the coming
months” would relocate to the Chicago area from the Dallas area.
