United Airlines has launched Transportation Security Administration Precheck Touchless ID at Salt Lake City International Airport, enabling customers to use facial-recognition technology to get through security without having to present a physical ID, the carrier announced Monday.
The move comes less than a week after Delta Air Lines announced it had expanded its Digital ID service to Salt Lake City.
Customers can opt in to United’s service on its app when they check in for their flight. They need to be enrolled in TSA PreCheck, have their passport uploaded to their MileagePlus account and be on a single passenger reservation, according to United.
United introduced Touchless ID at Chicago O’Hare International Airport in December 2023, and in addition to Salt Lake City has since expanded it at airports in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Newark as well as New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
