United Airlines has launched Transportation Security
Administration PreCheck Touchless ID at Reagan Washington National Airport, the
carrier announced Thursday, coming about a week after it launched
the service in Salt Lake City.
TSA PreCheck Touchless ID enables customers to use
facial-recognition technology to get through security without having to present
a physical ID.
To use the service, customers must be enrolled in TSA
PreCheck, have their passport uploaded to their MileagePlus account and be on a
single passenger reservation, after which travelers can opt in on the United
app, according to the carrier.
United now offers Touchless ID at seven locations. In
addition to Washington, D.C. and Salt Lake City, it’s available at airports in
Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Newark and New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
