United to Develop Winter Schedule

United Airlines has launched a winter schedule with new routes and expanded service, including inaugural flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and Marrakesh, Morocco, the carrier announced Thursday.

With expanded schedules at more than 140 U.S. airports, United plans to operate an average of 4,600 flights per day during peak season, marking the “largest winter schedule in company history.”

The carrier on Dec. 19 will launch nonstop service between Washington Dulles and each Salt Lake City and Palm Springs, Calif. It also will add new seasonal service between Bozeman, Mont., and each Washington Dulles and Newark.

In addition, United will expand some seasonal summer routes into the fall and winter months, including nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare and each Milan and Rome in Italy, and between Washington Dulles and each Madrid, Spain, and Lisbon, Portugal.

The carrier plans about 10 percent growth to Latin America, including year-round flights between Houston and Medellin, Colombia, launching Nov. 13; new seasonal weekly service between San Francisco and Belize City, Belize; and year-round flights between San Francisco and Monterrey, Mexico.

United earlier this month also announced eight new international destinations to launch next summer.
