Valenzuela Lights up Tree of Hope: Celebrating the Holiday Season

The festive spirit is alive and well in Valenzuela City, as the local government has recently unveiled its dazzling Tree of Hope, adorned with twinkling lights and vibrant decorations. This welcomed event marks the opening of this year’s Food Fiesta and Christmas Bazaar, where a delightful array of culinary treats and unique gifts awaits visitors, filling the air with the joyful sounds and scents of the holiday season.

Leading the ceremonial tree lighting and ribbon-cutting of the exhibits were city mayor Wes Gatchalian, vice mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, and the City Council members, joined by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, and Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

The 20-year old tree lighting tradition is part of the monthlong celebration of the city’s 401st founding anniversary as the Spanish pueblo of Polo in 1623.

This year’s 45-foot-tall Christmas tree is dedicated to the industry partners, business establishments and taxpayers who have made the local economy vibrant.

Spicing up the evening program were Bitik Children’s Choir, WEScot and the Elves, and Sugar Rush which fired up the park’s Aero Circle with their impressive performances.

Moving to the park’s Amphitheater is Industry Night 2024 where Valenzuela’s pride, WCOPA 2024 multi-medalist Benedict Balagot and SunKissed Lola wowed the crowd with their pop hits.

The food fiesta and Christmas bazaar were started in 2016 by the City’s Local Economic Development and Investments Promotion Office (LEDIPO), to provide residents with inexpensive food and beverage, recreational activities, and shopping areas for gift items.

This year’s edition will feature 107 local entrepreneurs who will showcase home-grown food and drinks and locally-produced products.
