Virgin to Add Toronto, Increase WestJet Codeshare


Virgin Atlantic plans to launch on March 30, 2025, daily service between London Heathrow and Toronto Pearson International Airport, the carrier announced Monday. It will be the carrier’s first route to Canada in more than a decade, according to Virgin Atlantic. 

The flights will operate with “a mix of the airline’s signature aircraft” including the A330-900neo, the carrier’s newest aircraft type.

In addition, Virgin Atlantic and WestJet plan to expand their codeshare partnership, the carriers also announced. Beginning in winter, WestJet customers from Calgary to London Heathrow can book a single itinerary for onward flights on Virgin Atlantic routes including to New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru in India, as well as Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa, Lagos in Nigeria, Dubai and the Maldives, according to WestJet. 

Beginning in summer 2025, WestJet will provide domestic connectivity to the newly announced Virgin Atlantic London-Toronto flights, according to the Canadian carrier.

The carriers also are working on offering a reciprocal frequent-flyer partnership for WestJet Rewards and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members, which is projected to launch in 2025.
