Volkswagen provides equipment, ups costs with T-Roc

Volkswagen Australia has confirmed running specification changes for its T-Roc small crossover, due to hit showrooms during the latter stages of the third quarter of 2023.

Both the entry-level T-Roc Style and the mid-tier T-Roc R-Line regain Side Assist – blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert – as standard equipment, with both also scoring additional features previously reserved for option packages.

The T-Roc Style picks up satellite navigation, voice control as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for its 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and also subs in the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro virtual instrument cluster to replace the outgoing model’s basic 8.0-inch display.

These features were previously part of the Sound & Vision Package priced at $2050. As a result of the above changes, the T-Roc Style is now priced from $38,890 plus on-road costs, $1790 up on the previous MY23 sticker.

Also benefiting from these running changes is the sportier T-Roc R-Line, which sees a similar $1890 price rise ($47,090) but now features the previous $3950 Luxury Package; meaning Nappa leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory are now standard.

The T-Roc R-Line also regains Side Assist as standard equipment, having been unavailable for the MY23 range due to ongoing component shortages.

Thanks to improved supply from Germany, the T-Roc has quickly become VW Australia’s top-selling model in 2023. As of June 30, 4420 units have been registered in Australia (up 263.5 per cent), and June’s monthly figure of 1060 registrations – an all-time record for the nameplate.

Year to date, the T-Roc commands 6.6 per cent share of the VFACTS Small SUV segment, with June’s monthly figure sitting at 7.2 per cent share. For reference, VW’s little crossover is currently ahead of the Toyota Corolla Cross and Hyundai Kona in the 2023 sales race.
