Vortex Solo R/T Monocular

The Construction

The fully multi-coated lenses punch way above their price point in clarity and resolution. The objective lens is 36 mm and is a fixed 8x magnification. The 393-foot linear field of view is exceptional for scanning the horizon or wood line. Weighing only 10 oz and 5.4 inches in length, it fits nicely in any chest pouch. The monocular also has a neck lanyard and soft carry case for various carry options. The robust carry clip is well-designed and fits perfectly on MOLLE webbing. Overall, the Solo R/T strikes a balance between size, weight, and features for well-built general-purpose monocular.
Use cases
Having a good general-purpose monocular in a hunting rig, hiking pack, or even in the center console of a vehicle is invaluable for any outing. It is beneficial for surveying new hunting property before the season kicks off. Conditions change as the day continues, a monocular is useful to understand how the changing light affects visibility and ever-changing terrain. While traversing unknown territory, having a tool for sighting what lies ahead or for locating the herd of game being tracked is crucial. Binoculars, while providing more clarity and magnification, are not always the best fit for observing on the move.
