Ingredients in a White Negroni Recipe

  • Gin – We recommend a London Dry Gin like Tanqueray or Beefeater.
  • Lillet Blanc – A French aromatized wine: a white wine infused with fruits, herbs, spices and botanicals.
  • Suze Genetian Liqueur – A bitter aperitif known for its delicate genetian root flavor.
  • Lemon Twist – Or lemon peel to garnish. You can also use a grapefruit peel.

The best glassware option to serve a White Negroni in is a double old fashioned glass.

Instructions

In a mixing glass with ice, add the gin, Lillet blanc and Suze and stir for 15 seconds or until well chilled.

Strain into an old fashioned glass over an oversized ice cube.

Garnish with a lemon twist.

White Negroni History

The White Negroni is a modern cocktail recipe and is one of the new cocktails that has taken flight in recent decades. It first debuted in 2001 with British bartender Wayne Collins at VinExpo, a prominent beverage exhibition show in Bordeaux, France. He was traveling with Nick Blacknell, the then-director of Plymouth Gin. This drink caught on in a big way and has become one of the most popular Negroni variations. The White Negroni shares a lot of similarities to the standard Negroni. It is a stiff and bitter cocktail, with the addition of citrus flavors.

Tips For Making

  • You’ll notice our White Negroni is actually yellow. If you want it to be white (it will actually be clear), substitute Cocchi Americano for Suze liqueur.
  • A classic Negoni is made with equal parts. This recipe dials back the Suze because a little bit goes a long way.
