WTTC employed former PATA CEO Liz Ortiguera – Worldtourism Wire

eTurboNews:

Singapore native Liz Ortiguera was only CEO of the Bangkok-based Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) for about ten months when she left the organization after an unexplained lawsuit and settlement.

A new CEO at PATA has not been announced yet but was just decided on.

eTurboNews recently mentioned on eTurboNews two days ago, Liz and Julian attended the G20 in Goa, where a renewed but more cynical announcement about cooperation between WTTC and UNWTO was made.

As one of the rumors floating around in Goa, the former PATA CEO will join the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) as a managing director for Asia-Pacific and a senior advisor to the CEO, Julia Simpson.

Julia Simpson and Liz Ortiguera have been the center of speculation and controversy in global travel and tourism.

Liz is still listed on the PATA website with her profile as a CEO.
It reads:

Liz Ortiguera is a senior executive with over 25 years of global experience and expertise in general management, marketing, business development, and partner network management. Liz is passionate about innovation, business transformation, and community building. Her career spans several industries – travel/lifestyle, technology, financial services, and pharmaceuticals. She’s experienced in both MNCs (American Express and Merck) and startup environments (SaaS, e-commerce, and ed-tech).

She was General Manager for Amex’s Travel Partner Network, Asia-Pacific/ANZ, for ten years, managing partnerships with the region’s top TMC, MICE, and leisure agencies. She can work across cultures and business environments to catalyze opportunities and drive growth.

In her personal life, she has continually advocated for poverty eradication programs and education initiatives across the region. Liz is an alumna of Stanford University Graduate Business School, Columbia University Business School, New York University, and The Cooper Union in New York.

WTTC and UNWTO Unite to Drive Travel and Tourism
The MOU was signed by WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson and UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili.

WTTC has been in the spotlight of controversy recently after some key members left the organization over the election process of the chairman and a possible conflict of interest for a global organization.
