Prinsu Maxtrax Mount Set up & Assessment

Simple & Effective Way To Mount Your Traction Boards

We all know how important a set of recovery boards can be when you’re off the beaten path. Being able to recover yourself or someone else brings a new level of confidence to your off-road travels.

If you own a Prinsu roof rack and a set of Maxtrax, then their mount is worth taking a look at. With it, you can securely store your recovery boards while keeping them easily accessible.

Installation

Maxtrax Recovery Board Mount For Roof Racks

This part is simple and only requires a couple of basic hand tools. It should only take you a few minutes to complete.

Tools Required

Step 1. Attach Mounting Pins

There are multiple different brands of recovery board pins out there but they should all install to the mounts the same way. They are sold separately. I got a generic set from Amazon.

Step 2. Install Mounts

I installed my mounts on the furthest back cross bar and oriented across the width of the roof.

Each will be installed with (4) carriage bolts, washers, and nuts. Make sure to not completely tighten any hardware until you’ve verified the spacing fits your recovery boards. After that, hand tighten only and do not use an impact wrench, as this will likely strip the light-duty bolts or damage the crossbar.

Step 3. Mount Boards

Slide the recovery boards over the mounting pins and tighten the pins to secure them to the roof. Each set is different, but the ones I used can hold up to four boards at once.

Roof Rack Maxtrax Mount Review

Installing these mounts could not have been any easier and I like how they don’t protrude super high above the boards.

In my opinion, storing recovery boards on the roof rack is a great place to keep them easily accessible when you need them. This is also a good way to free up a bit of space in the bed of your truck!
